after giving up waiting for the appropriate successor for my trusty nikon D1 in 2004 i did the switch. also of course being tempted by some lenses offered nikon simply doesn’t have. so now i’m shooting canon.. (seems i still have to tell it myself to believe it) .. but i never sold any of my nikon-gear, so having been lucky enough getting a D700 for a kind of volantary “job” i currently am permanently torn between brands..

my main workhorses now are a canon 1D mk3 and the D700.

the treasures in my canon-bag (and main reasons why i switched) are the 200/1.8 and the 85/1.2 (1st gen.), generally i’m rather the fast-primes-guy on this side of the lawn as this is where their grass is greener than on the other side. a 1Dmk2N is still around but should go on ebay soon.

on the nikon side i still got the lenses from back in the D1-days, so the long end is the old nikon 80-200/2.8 D (pre AFS) which still does a surprisingly good job even for indoor sports.

for special applications there’s a sony dsc r1, a gopro hd and a barely used canon 20d.. also i got and use wireless transfer modules for both systems.
