bubbles

for a current job, the layout of a folder, i had to shoot quickly arising tiny bubbles “in action” and to show one of those pics in full res i thought i’d try out zoomify.. so here we go, just click and pan or use the controls at the bottom:

this has been shot with the 24-70/2.8 (in macro position), and generally i used extension tubes to get close.. for lighting one flash (550ex) for the background (a blue garbage bag ;)) and one handheld right next to the lens to light the plastic where the bubbles came out which in turn lit the bubbles from below..
as usual, shot raw and developed with bibble, that zoomify-tool seems to have added a little more jpg-compression that i whished, but well.. maybe i’ll add a gallery with some of the other views i shot later on..

  1. I also have the 24-70/2.8 and am considering making it focus closer somehow. But I’m split between the 500D filter-mount magnifying glass and extension tubes… Your pictures look great, I wonder how they would have turned out with the 500D.

  2. the 500D is said to be great, but i actually am always a little worried bout putting additional glass in the optical path, so i prefer tubes..
